Orlando Locksmith & Lock Services

Trusted Local Locksmiths, Day or Night

Licensed & Insured • 24/7 Emergency Lockouts • Upfront Pricing

Between vacation-rental turnovers near the parks, apartment complexes filling up along the SR 408 corridor, and Florida humidity that corrodes lock cylinders from the inside out, Orlando keeps a locksmith busy. We handle rekeys, lockouts, smart-lock installs, and mailbox and high-security cylinder work across College Park, Thornton Park, Baldwin Park, MetroWest, and Dr. Phillips. Landlords flipping short-term rentals and homeowners locked out after a late I-4 commute get the same answer: a licensed tech, fast, with upfront scope before any work starts.

Questions & Answers

Orlando Locksmith FAQs

I run a short-term rental near Universal — can you rekey between guest turnovers?

Yes, rental rekeys and smart-lock code rotations are one of our most common Orlando jobs. Many MetroWest and Dr. Phillips hosts switch to keypad deadbolts so codes change per booking, and we can install and configure those in a single visit.

Why does my front-door deadbolt keep sticking in the Florida humidity?

Central Florida’s moisture and salt-tinged air corrode pin chambers and swell door frames, so the bolt starts dragging against the strike. A cleaning, re-pinning, and strike realignment cures most of them; if the cylinder is too far gone we can swap in a weather-rated replacement.

Do you cover Winter Park and Lake Nona as well as central Orlando?

We do. Our service area runs from Winter Park and Baldwin Park down through downtown and Thornton Park, out to Lake Nona along SR 417. Response time varies a bit with I-4 traffic, and we always give you an honest ETA when you call.

How fast can a locksmith get to me for a lockout?

Response time depends on where you are and the time of day, but lockouts are prioritized ahead of scheduled work. When you call, the dispatcher gives you a realistic arrival window and a confirmed price — if either changes, you hear it from us before the technician is en route, not after.

Will opening my lock damage it?

Almost never. Trained locksmiths open the vast majority of residential and vehicle locks with picks and bypass tools that leave the lock working exactly as before. Drilling is reserved for rare high-security or failed cylinders, and we always explain and get your OK first — a drilled lock must be replaced.

What is the difference between rekeying and replacing a lock?

Rekeying changes the pins inside your existing lock so it works with a new key; the hardware stays on the door. Replacing swaps the entire lock. Rekeying is cheaper and is the right call when the hardware is in good shape — replacement makes sense when locks are worn, damaged, or you want an upgrade like a smart lock.

Do I need to prove the property or car is mine?

Yes, and you should be glad we ask. Before opening or making keys we verify identity and your right to access — a driver’s license, lease, utility bill, or vehicle registration usually does it. A locksmith who skips this step should worry you.

Can a locksmith really make a car key without the original?

For most makes, yes. We can generate a key from the vehicle’s lock code and program the transponder chip on-site, even when every key is lost. A few exotic and very new models are dealer-only; tell us the year, make, and model when you call and we will confirm before dispatching.
